CCUS

Real world experience of CCUS in action

We provide services to developers, operators, governments and legislative authorities having worked on 30 major projects globally providing over 50,000 hours of expertise to industry.

We have extensive experience across all aspects of the CCUS value chain, from capture of carbon dioxide (CO2) through conditioning and transport to sequestration of carbon dioxide in geological formations and utilisation of CO2 as an industrial feedstock. We also have extensive experience in the use of CO2 for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and supporting technology developers produce efficient technologies.

We bring our real world experience of actually operating CCUS plants to all phases of a CCUS projects ensuring projects are the right size, and solutions be they in design or operations practical and achievable while minimising risk.

MODELLING THE OFFSHORE CCUS INFRASTRUCTURE IN EUROPE
Xodus has worked with the CCSA on an economic modelling on the transport and storage of CO2 in Europe (EU-EEA-UK).

This research aims to understand the economic benefits, specifically in terms of tariffs, for emitters seeking to transport and store CO2 between the UK and the EU-EEA.
The work builds upon Xodus' 2023 research forecasting CCUS infrastructure development through 2050.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

Xodus takes an integrated approach to projects and CCUS is no different. We combine our wide range of skills to provide integrated solutions ensuring success in cost, schedule and quality.

What is particularly unique to Xodus is our ability to bring together surface and subsurface engineers which means we truly understand the interaction between the subsurface plan for CCUS and the range and extent of surface facilities required. Combining these disciplines means we really can deliver comprehensive concept and project development solutions.

The project development process demands adaptable, quick-thinking teams that will take rapid but informed decisions and quickly identify the main risk and uncertainty areas to ensure a solution is feasible and meets the objectives and goals of the project. This is what we do.

OPERATIONAL SUPPORT

Our team has had long term involvement in one of the largest CCS projects in the world which has provided us with invaluable expert knowledge of the real world challenges that need to be resolved when operating CCS plants.

This combined with our digital automated optimisation methods means our engineers can make sure you get the most from your asset.

Our extensive experience with ensuring continuity of operation during periods of “off-specification” operation within CO2 separation, conditioning, transportation and storage systems means that we are able to advise our clients on how to ensure that their designs take due account of potential operational issues ahead of installation.

DECOMMISSIONING

Our integrated decommissioning capability covers all aspects of decommissioning. Our experience from the traditional hydrocarbon industry means we have all the expertise that will be required to decommission CCUS assets when the time is right.
