South Carolina Offshore Wind Supply Chain Study

In collaboration with Clemson University’s Regional Economic Analysis Laboratory and local stakeholders, we have conducted a comprehensive study on South Carolina’s supply chain capabilities to support offshore wind manufacturing in the US.

The study highlights South Carolina’s existing manufacturing strengths and presence of large global suppliers in adjacent industries. The State already hosts a Tier 1 offshore wind supplier, contributing hundreds of millions of dollars to the local economy. South Carolina is well positioned to support both the development of existing suppliers in the state as well the attraction of new offshore wind supply chain companies through its pro-business climate, surrounding manufacturing landscape, and port infrastructure.

The study offers ten strategic recommendations to attract key offshore wind suppliers and integrate South Carolina businesses into the global offshore wind supply chain. By leveraging its strengths and implementing the study’s recommendations, South Carolina has the potential to see further economic benefit from the growth of the offshore wind industry.
